Photoshop obsessed

I guess it's true when they say that you can get obsessed with just about anything. Well my recent obsession is, believe it or not, Photoshop and the tutorials that some people created and are simply amazing. My recent project were two e-cards and here are the results.

This first card was made with the help of this tutorial and I must say that it was a nicely written one. I had no problems following it even tough, as you can see, I have changed the whole thing a bit.
This card was made directly by this lovely tutorial that you can find here. It's easy to follow and the result is a nice and colourful Christmas card.

I also made this kind of logo.... I followed this tutorial till the end, but I changed the last bit a bit, because I wanted it to be a bit weird just like it's maker. :P

Learning Photoshop

Now that I have new notebook that actually works well enough I have decided to finally learn a bit of Photoshop magic. I used to be really impressed with Photoshop and with a friend of mine who has always been really good at working with it, but I never learnt it myself. It was one of those things that I wished to know how to do but somehow never learnt.
Well I have now started to learn how to do things that I have till now only admired online. I have so far made two images using two tutorials, but I have changed both of them slightly.

This first image was made for a swap that I plan on participating in at Swap bot. It's a team Edward swap and I had to make a postcard, bookmark and ATC...
I have used this image to make a postcard. I don't know what exactly did I wish to achieve with this image, but it was somehow planned to show Edward as some sort of outer space creature. The title is superhero-bad guy...

This second image is an eye manipulation The idea itself is from this tutorial but I didn't want to make everything the same as it is in the tutorial so I changed a few things. Please don't ask me why I did the changes or even how, because it was more or less a coincident that it worked out the way it did.

Postcard, postcard I love postcards :)

I have received two more postcards this week. :D

This one is from my new penfriend Gemma from Spain who's still travelling Europe... and has visited Paris this time. It certainly brings back so many memories.

This one is from Yong from Korea. We have agreed to exchange postcards via interpals site and he sent me this postcard of Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall. Interesting building, isn't it?

New gadgets :D

I have been away for like almost half a year, but I am finally back. The reason that I was not here was that my old notebook Dell Inspiron 6400 has broken down after two years of usage and without any real reason. I was stuck with my old computer from the year 2000 which only had 128Mb of memory and 40 gb of space, so you can probably imagine that it hardly worked with all the new requirements that Windows XP has. But now that computer is dead too and I had to buy nwew notebook. At first I was only looking at HP or Dell and I wasn't really into Dell since my first experience didn't end to well, so I was checking all possible HP computers. I was really impressed with HP Pavillion, but the official word on HP Slovenia was that this brand of HP computers aren't ment for Slovenia, so instead of buying it from some website where who knows what can happen I turned to ask for help to a work friend of my parents who is a bit more into computers. He suggested that I should look for other brand, because they could work out fine too. I wasn't too convinced at the beginning, because I am mostly familliar with these two brands, but he gave me some options that were quite interesting. I didn't have as much time as I usually have when I am deciding something like this because I needed the computer, but in the end I have decided to try out some Acer notebooks. I didn't know the brand before and the word online is mixed, some say that it's a good competition to Dell and HP and some say that it's a bad choice. I don't exactly know too much about computers and I wasn't sure if it's better to buy a more expencive notebook and hope that it'll work for morre than 2 years or stay within some less expencive range and then not regret if it breaks down. At the end I had the option of trying out Acer Aspire 5738ZG notebook and I really liked it. I was impressed by the looks of it, I really love the shape and colour and it's weight is a lot smaller than the Inspiron 6400. I tried it out and decided that it works ok for me so I decided to buy it. The good thing was also that if anything happens my parents could simply give it back to their coworker and he could fix it fast and without real complications. So far this Acer is working great with Windows 7 and I am honestly impressed. Of course I will publish it here if that changes. :S
Few months ago there was a good offer for new digital cameras and since I have always wanted to own a good camera I have decided to take the plunge and buy one. I have found Nikon D60 with AF-S Nikkor 18-55 mm for a good price and I bought it. I hope to get the chance to take some classes to learn how to take better pictures, but for now I am simply taking shots at everything that I see. Some of these shots are OK, some aren't but I guess we all learn from our mistakes. :)

A very special birthday gift

My birthday hasn't even happened yet and somehow I have already received a really special gift from my dear penfriend Angela from Austria. It's amazing how well she knows me and how well she remembers the details. Can you imagine that she remembered that I really liked the coffee I drank at Starbucks, while I was visiting her in Austria, even tough I don't like coffee. She remembered and got me their coffee. :) I know that some people would think that I am making a big deal for nothing, but the detail meant so much to me.
She also sent me another book to add to my collection and it's none other than Memoirs of a geisha. I have read this book before, but in my own language, so I was really happy to get the chance to read it in English. I don't know why I love English language so much, but I can't help it.
It was also a nice detail to read what she wrote to me in her birthday card.
